SENATE PASSES BILL FOR TECHNOLOGY ENABLED STARTUP
The bill to create and develop enabling environment for technology enabled startup was passed yesterday in the senate.
The bill which is an offshoot of the report by the senate committee on information technology and cyber security is meant to harness the potentials of digital economy through coordinated regulations.
Presenting the report, the chairman of the committee, Senator Oseni Yakubu said that the bill is to establish the national council for digital innovation and entrepreneurship.
He stated that the council will hold the duty to create and develop enabling environment for technology enabled startups in the country.
Also, a bill for an act to provide for ease of doing business, transparency, efficiency, productivity and other related matters passed through second reading.
The bill sponsored by deputy senate leader Senator Ajayi Boroffice was after consideration referred by the senate president Senator Ahmad Lawan to the senate committee on trade and investment for further legislative input and given two weeks to report back to the chamber at plenary.
Similarly, a bill to establish the federal nephrology and kidney research and treatment center, Hadejia also passed through second reading.
The bill sponsored by Senator Hassan Ibrahim Hadejia of Jigawa north west was referred to the committee on secondary and tetiary health for legislative input and was given four weeks to report back to the chamber at plenary.
