CAPTAIN HOUNAKEY CHAMPIONS PEACEFUL COEXISTENCE AMONG YOUTHS
The coordinator of United Nations Ambassador of Peace, UNAP, Captain Kafu-Ata Hounakey has said that the place of youths in achieving peaceful coexistence is paramount in any country. He stated this during a press conference organized to announce the upcoming international youth summit for peace 2022.
He also lauded the excellent performance of Team Nigeria at the just concluded 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, United kingdom where the team clinched several medals.
Outlining the leading roles of Nigeria in Africa, he noted that there is need to galvanize the youths to champion peace as a way of enriching interaction leading to playing key roles of our teeming citizens.
“Over the years, governments in Africa have taken it upon themselves the idea of upscaling rural development to enhance the alleviation of poverty and unemployment thereby improving the livelihood of citizens residing in the country side. One of the fastest ways of empowering the inhabitants or our communities to become self-reliance is by providing them with basic infrastructure for them to create wealth and better their lots”.
Captain Hounakey stated that there are plans to train the youths through the world Chaplain Association of Human Rights, thereby establishing the chaplaincy in Nigeria, adding that the establishment of the UNAP representatives focuses on the defence of human rights, training of justices of peace, moderator of judges and champlain officers of human rights.
Rtd Brig.General Adeoye while speaking at the conference, noted that peace is a veritable tool for sustainable development
He urged the youths to shun violence and destruction.
The summit slated to hold on September 3, 2022 in Abuja is being organized by UNAP in collaboration with the International Organization of Youths’ Promotion of Peace and Foundation for the Support of Nigeria Veterans.
