CATHOLIC PRO CATHEDRAL CELEBRATES CULTURE DAY TO SHOWCASE UNITY IN DIVERSITY

This year’s feast and cultural day of our lady queen of Nigeria catholic pro cathedral Abuja was yet a great opportunity for the parishioners to come together in celebration galore.

The annual cultural heritage, feast and get together was a gathering of different cultural activities to showcase unity in diversity. 
These were displayed by the parishioners through presentation of songs, dances and meals that are peculiar to the various ethnic groups across the country.

President of the prestigious Catholic Women Organisation (CWO), Our Lady Queen of Nigeria Pro-Cathedral Chapter, Dr Mrs Victoria, explained that the feast is to create unity in the church and the country.

She said: “we show love and care to each other as members, today is the day in a year when we normally come together to showcase this love and unity with one another. This year’s celebration all started with a mass where over 182 candidates were confirmed. We are here this afternoon to give God the glory”.


She urged all the parishioners to be more united irrespective of the ethnic background, adding that all that brought them together is the body of Jesus Christ.

A pioneer parishioner,  Sir Patrick Ude noted that the different cultures displayed by the parishioners signify the beauty of Nigeria.

He said that every individual has culture and no one culture is important than others, adding that the event  encourage everyone to have unity.

“This is how we shall live in heaven when we depart from here, people from all different ethnic background, diversity in culture shall all eat, dance and sing together in heaven” he said.

Speaking also, parishioners said that they were excited to witness the activities of multi cultural ethnic groups.


Mr Geoffrey Tobechuku Ugwuanyi, noted that he felt elated to participate and witness the activities of other multi-cultural ethnic groups.

He said that the feast day and cultural day celebration was an honour to “our lady Queen of Nigeria” which the pro cathedral parish was named after.

He also said that he is a member of st Joseph in the parish, comprising of Enugu, Ebonyi and Anambra yet was able to celebrate with other parishioners.
