WOMEN AFFAIRS’ MINISTER TELLS COMMISSIONERS TO PLAN FOR 16DAYS ACTIVISM AGAINST GENDER BASED VIOLENCE
The minister of women affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen has instructed commissioners, permanent secretaries and directors in the states across the country to organise suitable programmes for the 2022 United Nations’ annual 16 days’ activism against gender based violence.
She stated it on thursday in Abuja at the concluding session of the 22nd National
Council on Women Affairs tagged “Gender Inclusivity and Women Economic Empowerment, Making the Change Work for Women and Children”.
She said that they should plan their activities to be in orange, organise programmes, visit and give succour to victims of gender based violence through out the activism campaign from 25th November to 10th December.
She also called for the establishment of gender desk offices in ministries for the purposes of information collation and response to incidences of gender based violence.
The minister who lamented how women and girls are molested and tortured unchecked, reiterated her commitment towards addressing and curtailing assault and discrimination against females.
She said that her ministry is poised towards ensuring that violence against women and girls whether in physical, sexual or emotional harm are dealt with to reduce and stop future occurrences.
