BUHARI SIGNS AMENDED CONSTITUTION TO ALLOW STATES GENERATE, TRANSMIT ELECTRICITY
Better levels of power generation and usage may soon be experienced as the amended constitution which allows states to licence, generate, transmit and distribute electricity was one of the bills signed by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Constant power failure have been much to contend with in daily social and economic lives of Nigerians, By the new law, states would no longer rest on the federal government but be able to think through, harness resources and opportunities to generate and make electricity available for their people.
Experts who have hitherto sought solutions to the problems of low generation of electricity stressed on the need to expand the energy mix and charged states to look inward for hydro, wind, sunlight and other natural and agro waste sources of energy to increase the production of electricity.
Improvement in electricity supply simply means reduction in the over dependence on generators, more productive business expansion, attraction of investors and all the gains that accrue to improved availability of electricity.
