UNEMPLOYMENT, INSECURITY: SENATE COMMITTEE HOLDS SUMMIT TO LEVERAGE ON LOCAL GOVERNMENT
With the theme “Security and Youth Employment Challenge in Nigeria: Leveraging on Local Governments”, the two-day summit for local government officials holds from 10 – 11 May in Abuja.
The event, organized by the Senate Committee on States and Local Government Administration in collaboration with Global Gold Consult Limited explores the role of local government areas and effective strategies that can enhance security measures and alleviate youth unemployment.
According to the organizers, it aims at addressing crucial issues that are of paramount importance as the country presently grapples with security challenges and the pressing need to create employment opportunities for its teeming youths.
It reflects the urgent need to prioritize the security of the nation and empower its youths through local government initiatives considering its pivotal role in driving positive change, fostering economic growth, and providing opportunities for the youths.
The annual summit serves as a platform for local government leaders, policymakers, experts, and stakeholders to come together and share insights, experiences, and best practices through interactive sessions, panel discussions, and presentations where the participants and stakeholders will gain valuable knowledge and innovative ideas to address the complex challenges faced by local governments.
