2023 ELECTION: EFCC RAISES ALARM OVER CASH DISBURSEMENT
Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has raised concerns over the increasing volume of cash disbursements for political activities.
Secretary of the anti graft agency, Dr George Ekpungu expressed the concern Monday in Abuja when he visited the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) for a renewal of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) towards credible election.
Stating that he had conveyed the message to Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), he advised that politicians should be mindful of their actions and inactions to save the country from deteriorating.
He said that the renewal of the MoU is to strengthen the existing partnership between the EFCC and NYSC and empower corps members in their role at ensuring credible, free and fair elections across the country.
“We are not politicians, but we have continued to ensure that we work with the NYSC to ensure that there is credible elections. The corps members must be bold to resist the politicians because where we are is at the precipice of collapse if we do not work together particularly the NYSC, EFCC, INEC and other stakeholders to salvage the country”
In his remark, the Director-General of NYSC, Brig Gen Mohammed Fadah, assured that the scheme will observe its part of the MoU in accordance with the new electoral act.
He appealled to employers of corps members to ensure that there is provision of conducive environment for utilization of their potentials.
